Parade Saddle
Stunning New Parade saddle with tons of Sterling Overlay and Turquoise!
This saddle is currently available

This saddle was made in April of this year. It was made for the World Leatherworker Debut in Sheridan, Wy for the saddlemakers contest. It did not win, but being up against the best in the world, that was okay. It is virtually brand new except used for 1 horse show in August. It was used on my Friesian gelding at our regional championships and he won both his western classes.

It is made on an SF Bowman tree, seat is 15.5" - 16" depending on how high up the horn the measurements is taken from, but rides very roomy and big. Gullet is just shy of 7", skirts are 14" x 29", tapaderos are a full 21" long! This saddle was made to fit our larger round horses of today unlike the antique parade saddles that were made to fit the more narrow horses of those past years. This will fit your most robust horse and there is plenty of room in the gullet for withers. I had the tree made with my Friesian horses in mind so the tips of the bars also are rolled slightly outward away from the horses shoulders to not interfere with their movement. All the sterling silver was custom made for this saddle and is all Sterling Overlay. The Turquoise was professionally set with sterling bezels. The seat is real alligator and all the leather is by Wickett & Craig. It is of course lined with real sheepskin. No corners were cut in the making of this saddle. It is also very intricately hand tooled in the "Sheridan Style".

There is a corona pad in the process of being made for this saddle. It is to be black and white rolls alternating in 2" lengths. Right now there is NOT a matching bridle or breastcollar. I ran out of time. However, I do have the silver to make these items so they can be available - please contact me for that. Bridle would have face chains and plates on brow and nose, turquoise included too. Breast collar to be martingale style with large round conchos w/turquoise. I can also supply black romels to go with it.

If this saddle is not quite what you need, any saddle can be made for you. As I noted, it was made for the Friesian horse or gaited horse in mind. Through much work, trial and error (about 3 years of trying), we now have custom made saddle trees that can accommodate these breeds. They are made by one of the top tree makers in the country. I personally am very relieved that I can make a saddle that will be comfortable for the rider... but is very comfortable for the harder to fit horses as well.
