Plainsman Style Saddle
Sold

This saddle was made for a good customer in San Jose. She wanted a very "Buckroo" looking saddle. This saddle is made on an SF Bowman tree made by Bill Bean, the leather is by Wickett & Craig in "Chestnut". It was then antique finished in dark brown to really bring out the basket stamp and tooling. It's an 8-string style saddle and has the old style partially exposed stirrup leathers with a "Nevada Twist". It's almost fully tooled with the exception of part of the seat. It has a "Sheridan" style floral tooling design. The hardware is solid brass and the sterling overlay conchos have an engraved brass center - the scalloped ring on the outside is silver. I used brown latigo for saddle strings and this went well with the antique finish. I tried to keep the weight down by making smaller skirts. Adding the tapaderos does make it heavier though. It has a 15" seat and has full double rigging. A matching headstall, breast collar, saddlebags and reins were made to match.

Very Buckaroo and very stylish.
