Our saddles are designed to ride in all day, every day - for work and play and most importantly BE COMFORTABLE FOR YOUR HORSE. The trees used are top quality rawhide covered wood trees. Being quality trees, the tree bars are slightly wider, but THICKNESS has been tapered down to keep the rider closer to the horse. The wider weight bearing surface helps to eliminate soreness on the part of the horse. The fronts of the bars are slightly rolled away from the shoulders to eliminate any pinching or rubbing in this area. The tree ground seat has been designed to put the rider over the center of balance of the horse. This will make it more comfortable for both horse and rider because the riders hips are rolled into the proper riding position, similar to what a high quality Dressage saddle would do. You feel you are sitting “IN” the saddle vs. “ON” the saddle. It is better for the horse because it makes it easier for him to maneuver if you are riding over the proper area of his back. He will be more sensitive to your body ques. You will also not be riding behind his center of balance which can sore a horses back because then his muscles are having to do the work of weight support vs. what his skeletal structure can more easily do.
For the rider, the better balanced seat means it’s easier to keep in the proper riding position lessening fatigue on the back and hips. The stirrup leathers or “Fenders” are also cut to help eliminate fatigue and stiffness in the knees. Even the stirrups themselves are “blocked” on the bottoms —in my case, the inside of the stirrup—to keep my ankles in the proper position. This mimics shoe orthodics. All of this attention to detail means a much more comfortable ride. The saddle can’t cure problems, but it can help alleviate them.
